The Ultimate Double Date

Way back in January, when it was freezing here and the ground was covered in snow, Ed and I were able to travel to Florida for a week. Ed had a business trip in Ft. Lauderdale. We went a few days early so we could spend the weekend with Mark and Rosie. A few days before we headed to Florida, we received an Express Envelope from UPS.

Inside was this invitation to "The Ultimate Double Date." We were told what to wear and when to be ready for breakfast. That was it. We were intrigued, and couldn't wait for the day to arrive to find out what we would be doing.

We had breakfast at home, then headed out for a walk around old town Windermere. We were going to ride bikes, but it was a little cool that morning. There are some nice homes in this area and quaint little shops.

After cleaning up and changing clothes we headed out. Our first stop was the movie theatre. We went to see Secretariat. We all really enjoyed the movie! It's one I would like to see again.

After the movie, we went out for a late lunch. Such a cute little place that made great sandwich wraps! Mark and Rosie's friends had introduced them to this shop.

We then headed to Winter Park for a Scenic Boat tour around several lakes. Our tour guide was hilarious! The lakes are connected by narrow waterways. Our boat barely fit through these "alleys" and several times we met kayakers who were gracious enough to move out of our way.

It was really interesting to hear the history of the area, and of many of the houses that surrounded the lakes.

If you are ever in the area, with some time on your hands, I would recommend this boat tour!

After the boat tour, we walked around Winter Park and asked random strangers to take our picture. Winter Park has upscale shops and restaurants and a nice park. Another beautiful spot in the Orlando area.

Then it was time for our final destination. We went downtown Orlando to a little Italian restaurant for dinner. Delicious!! A very nice ending to a very fun day.

We loved the anticipation of the day, not knowing what was planned next. It was a great day to spend with just Mark and Rosie. It was obvious that they had planned all these things for us because they knew we would enjoy them, and enjoy them we did!!

You can see more pictures from "The Ultimate Double Date" here. Thanks to Rosie for most of these pictures here. For some reason, I didn't take very many that day. And thanks to Mark and Rosie for planning such a fun day for all of us!!
