A quick kitchen project for today

Just wanted to share an addition to the new kitchen look. I wanted to put a big quote on this wall that goes from our kitchen into the dining room, but couldn't decide on one quote. I decided to paint a chalkboard instead. I saw this done on the wall in a knitting shop with a sloppy/funky border painted around it, but I think I will use some trim board and paint it white to frame the chalkboard. I will be able to change the quotes/Bible verses as the mood strikes me. Hopefully Nicole will add her creative touches as well. I think I'm going to like it. Has anyone ever done this before? I don't know if I should sand the area down a little so it is more of a smooth surface. It'll probably need another coat or two. Anyone have any suggestions?
